The Effects of Coating and Noble Metal Distribution on the Activity of Three-effect Catalysts
Objective Studying the effects of coating and noble metal distribution on the activity of three-effect catalysts.Method We prepared three catalysts with the same amount of coating and noble metal but different distribution, then tested the conversions of the three catalysts to the exhaust pol-lutants CO,HC and NOx in the fresh and aged state. Results Keeping the same total amount of coating and noble metal, changing the distribution of coating and noble metal would affect the activity of the cat-alyst to the three exhaust pollutants. Conclusion For CO and HC exhaust pollutants, the catalyst which has a higher concentration of noble metal Pd in the coating distribution and that the noble metal Pd dis-tributes in the intermediate coating is conducive to the activity. For NOx exhaust pollutants,a small a-mount of noble metal Pd and Rh fused together have a synergistic effect, the noble metal Pd can improve the utilization of Rh and then enhance the conversion of NOx.From the perspective of the overall three-way catalyst, the stability and aging performance of the catalyst can be increased by multiple layered coating with the first layer being empty.
