Structural Equation Modelling Research into the Effects of College Students'Psychological Capital on English Learning Engagement and Academic Performance
Learning engagement has been deemed as a key indicator for the quality of tertiary educaiton.In reponse to the re-quirement of the high quality development,the focus on learning engagement in college English has become more and more impor-tant.This study established a structural equation model and examined the relations among psychological capital,learning engage-ment in college English,and English academic performance.The results found that English learning engagement not only had direct relations with psychological capital and English academic performance,but also served as a partial mediator on the beneficial effect of psychological capital upon English academic performance.The findings of this study advances the previous research by providing an empirical evidence to testify the mechanism which explained how and why psychological capital could be a favorable factor for English learning engagement and academic performance.The findings suggest that the intervention of psychological capital would be worthwhile to enhance students'engagement in college English learning,thus improving the effectivess of tertiary educaiton in English.
