Kazakhstan's foreign policy is diversified, well balanced and economic interest-focused.Under the impact of the Ukrainian crisis,Kazakhstan's diplomacy, while continuing its traditional policies, has shown more pragmatic, flexible and proactive features. In its relations with Russia,Kazakhstan seeks a balance between autonomy and dependence, takes a relatively neutral attitude toward the Russian-Ukrainian conflict at the official level, exhibits friendly ally behavior in its diplomatic practice, and engages in moderate strategic maneuvering on significant economic and political security issues. At the same time,Kazakhstan strives to strengthen its relations with the United States,to enhance cooperation with China,to actively explore economic diplomacy in the Middle East, and to proactively promote regional integration within its own region. The major causes of the continuation and adjustment of Kazakhstan's foreign policy come both from within and without. In the new situation, the development of China-Kazakhstan relations is facing opportunities:firstly, the resistance from Russia is reduced, secondly,Kazakhstan's diplomatic autonomy is enhanced. At the same time,it's also facing the pressure of the U.S.and Western strategic containment.
