A Preliminary Study on the Interaction Between Confucianism Education in Northern Wei and the Promotion of National Common Language and Writing
The Northern Wei Dynasty attached great importance to Confucianism education since its founding.It also consciously or unintentionally promoted Chinese as the official language and script.Finally,during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen,the policy of using Chinese and Chinese characters as the national common language and script was introduced.There is an interactive relation-ship between Confucianism education and the promotion of national language and writing.On the one hand,the central Confucian-ism education of Northern Wei strengthened the rulers'mastery of the national policy of universal language and writing,while local Confucianism education promoted the popularization of national universal language and writing.On the other hand,the national policy of universal language and writing in Northern Wei enhanced people's understanding and recognition of Confucian concepts,promoted the development of the diverse and integrated pattern of the Chinese nation,and also promoted the increasing number of Confucian scholars to be highly valued.With the comprehensive development of the economy and culture of Northern Wei,people have put forward higher requirements for Confucian classics and language and writing.The organization of Confucian classics and the standardization of language and writing have received attention,and the two promote each other.
