崔颢的诗大致可以分为三类：或写妇人闺情，名陷轻薄；或写南方山水风俗，清丽自然；或写边塞山水戎旅之苦，风骨凛然。而《黄鹤楼》则是歌行与律体间发，刚柔兼济。他的诗风变化多端，题材不同，见闻阅历不同，导致他性情渐变，诗风也随之变化。
