Research on Leakage Control of Valve Chamber in Long Oil and Gas Pipeline
As an important component of long-distance oil and gas pipelines, valve chambers play a crucial role in the entire pipeline, such as distribution, emergency shutdown, venting, backflushing, etc. At present, most valve chambers share the same cathodic protection system as the cathodic protection of the main line. However, various grounding, insulation failures, and valve anti-corrosion defects in the valve chamber can easily cause cathodic protection current loss, resulting in inadequate protection of buried pipelines in the valve chamber.Severe leakage can cause about 500 meters of pipeline upstream and downstream of the valve chamber, and the cathodic protection potential of the pipeline to be biased towards positive. To solve the problem of leakage in the valve chamber of oil and gas pipelines and ensure the normal operation of the entire pipeline cathodic protection, the cathodic protection potential of buried pipelines must be within the protection value of-1.2~-0.85 V.The article analyzes the causes of leakage in most valve chambers and proposes treatment methods in order to provide reference for relevant personnel.
