Effects of Combined Start Assistance Measures on Start Performance of Vehicles in Plateau and Cold Area
The work aims to improve the start performance of vehicles in plateau and cold areas. The effect of combined start assistance measures on the start performance of diesel engines in extreme high-altitude cold environments was studied through simulation methods.Based on the high-altitude cold environment simulation start test system, cold start tests were con-ducted on a certain test vehicle to verify the improvement effect of combined start assistance measures on the start performance of vehicles in high-altitude cold environments. The start process of a certain type of diesel engine equipped with four different configurations of combined cold start assistance measures was compared and analyzed under the conditions of altitude of 5 500 m and ambient temperature of-35℃.After simulation and experimental verification, the combined start assistance system with intake preheater, fuel heater, large capacity low-temperature battery in parallel, and intake oxygenation device could success-fully start the vehicle. It is found that adding an appropriate amount of oxygen to the intake can significantly improve the com-bustion efficiency of each cycle during high-altitude cold start, increase the number of combustion cycles, and improve the power performance of each cycle. The combination of preheating(intake and coolant),speed increase, and intake oxygenation can significantly improve the start performance of vehicles in extreme high-altitude and cold environmental conditions.
