Geographical division of Tianmu Lake area in Liyang based on digital elevation model(DEM)
The division of geomorphological units in Tianmu Lake area of Liyang,Jiangsu can enhance the efficiency of surface sub-strate surveys by categories, types, and levels.Based on a 5-meter resolution digital elevation model(DEM)of Tianmu Lake area,GIS software was used to extract information on elevation, slope, and terrain relief. In the process of extracting terrain relief, neighborhood analysis and the mean change method were employed, and the optimal analysis window size for extracting terrain relief was determined to be 37x37 pixels.Spatial superposition analysis of terrain relief, elevation, and slope was conducted, and the geomorphological distri-bution patterns and variation differences were preliminarily explored. The study tentatively proposed geomorphological division criteria for Tianmu Lake area, dividing it into five geomorphological types of plains, river terraces, intermountain valleys, tablelands, and hills.Among these, intermountain valleys and tablelands are the dominant landforms, accounting for 32.97%and 21.96%of the area, respectively. The division results align with the geomorphological pattern differences and spatial distribution in Tianmu Lake area,effec-tively reflecting the transitional geomorphological characteristics from plains to hills. This provides a reliable geographical basis for sub-sequent surface substrate surveys and holds significance for exploring the differences in geomorphological distribution patterns and sur-face substrate attributes.
