Effect of residual Ti content on the characteristics of primary carbides in H13 steel
Taking the ultra-long service life of H13 hot work die steel as the background, the effect of residual Ti content on the characteristics of primary carbides in H13 steel was studied.Through a combination of laboratory smelting of H13 steel ingots with different residual Ti content and organic solution electrolysis, the effect of residual Ti content on the number density and three-dimensional size of V-rich carbide and Ti-V-rich carbide was systemati-cally analyzed from the perspective of three-dimensional(3D)observation.Research results shows that 3D observa-tion can more truly reflect the relevant characteristics of primary carbides in H13 steel.3D morphology of primary carbides is a typical tree-like structure. With the gradually increase of the residual Ti content, the number density and 3D size of primary carbides also gradually increases. When the residual Ti content is less than 40 × 10-6,only V-rich carbides exist in the steel, and when the residual Ti content is greater than 40 × 10-6,both Ti-V-rich car-bides and V-rich carbides exist in the steel. The increase of residual Ti content changes the types of primary carbides and promotes the precipitation of primary carbides, which is the direct reason for the increase their number density and average 3D size.
