Although the new Vocational Education Law gives vocational education the same status as general education,China's higher vocational education has not got rid of the path dependence of"discipline education",there are problems such as attaching importance to quantity and neglecting quality,attaching importance to professional declaration and neglecting connotation construction,attaching importance to knowledge and neglecting ability.The guiding path reform of American community college is carried out around"one center,two key points,three supports and four goals",focusing on helping students succeed and cultivating students'effective learning ability.China's higher vocational education can learn from the experience of the United States to solve the development dilemma from the aspects of building learning paradigm,helping students to plan careers and academic paths,reshaping the knowledge system focusing on ability cultivation,and establishing learning quality evaluation mechanism.
