Summary of Experience in Reverse Osmosis Operation of Sewage Source UF-RO Process WTPs
Based on the four-year engineering operation experience of reverse osmosis(RO)in the reclaimed water source double-membrane process water treatment plant(WTP),the changes in membrane performance and engineering measures to maintain membrane efficiency were analyzed. The results showed that the RO system had been operating stably for four years, and the membrane performance had been maintained. The average value of the standardized desalination rate was 97.9%,which was 0.8%lower than the initial value, and the average annual decrease was 0.2%.Under 98%guarantee rate, the desalination rate dropped from the initial 98.4%to 97.4%,with an average annual decrease of 0.25%.The standardized membrane flux retention rate of the system was 63.0%,the inlet water pressure was stable at 1.19 MPa,and the first-stage pressure difference was only increased by 62.5%compared to the initial value, which was equivalent to the level of the first year of operation. It was predicted that the average life of the membrane could reach 7 years.By optimizing the automatic control program, strictly controlling the influent ORP and total chlorine, alternately adopting impact sterilization and cleaning water tank sterilization, maintaining online maintenance cleaning and other comprehensive methods, the membrane performance was effectively maintained and the degradation of membrane performance was slowed down. The membrane life was extended.Actual project electricity consumption calculations and forecasts showed that the cost of membrane replacement greatly exceeded the increased electricity costs of membrane life extension. The membrane life should be maintained as long as possible, and the membrane replacement time should be delayed to obtain the greatest economic effect.Engineering operation practice showed that domestic scale inhibitors,non-oxidizing fungicides could achieve the same effect as imported chemicals and reduce operating costs.
