With the acceleration of urbanization, stormwater runoff pollution has become a global environmental focus. In addition to traditional pollutants, emerging contaminants such as persistent organic pollutants, endocrine disruptors, antibiotics, and microplastics are receiving increasing attention. This paper systematically reviews the types, their occurrence and their environmental impacts of emerging contaminants in stormwater runoff, and analyzes the research progress of related removal technologies.Persistent organic pollutants in stormwater runoff come from diverse sources, and land use types have a significant impact on their concentrations.Endocrine disruptors have become important pollutants in stormwater runoff due to their widespread use.Antibiotics and microplastics,as emerging pollutants, are also gradually receiving attention for their occurrence and impacts in stormwater.Various removal technologies including sand filters, chemical oxidation, and bioretention ponds are being researched and applied for these pollutants.Additionally, source control is an important means to reduce stormwater runoff pollution, including urban management and planning, chemical use control, and waste treatment.Future research should strengthen monitoring and assessment of emerging contaminants and combine multiple technological approaches to achieve effective management of stormwater runoff pollution.
