Practice on Disinfection Technology and Microbial Index Control in WTP
Microbial index is the most important indices of tap water and to ensure the microbial safety of tap water is always the first concern of the water treatment plant(WTP).This study takes a WTP utilizing Yangtze River water with advanced ozone-activated carbon treatment as an example,by adjusting the disinfection process, especially adjusting pre-chlorine and disinfection dosages,to compare the total coliform,Escherichia coli,heat-resistant coliform,Enterococcus, total colonies including the sedimentation tank outlet, the sand filter outlet, the carbon filter outlet and the tap water. The results indicate that the chlorine dosage significantly impacts microbial indices under different temperature conditions, especially in the case of without disinfection contact pool, providing insights on reducing the microbial risk of tap water and optimizing the chlorine dosages in the disinfection process.
