Analysis of Achievements in the Upgrading and Reconstruction of Municipal WWTPs under Suzhou Special Emission Limit
In order to adapt to the huge changes in China's economic, social, and ecological environment situation,Suzhou proposed the"Suzhou special emission limit"in 2018.As of the end of 2020,all municipal wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)in Suzhou have completed the upgrading and reconstruction work. This study analyzes the effectiveness of this upgrading and reconstruction of 80 municipal WWTPs in Suzhou City, based on their operation status before and after the upgrading and reconstruction, and changes in treatment scale, load rate, and effluent quality. The results show that after this upgrading and reconstruction, the total treatment capacity of 80 municipal WWTPs in Suzhou has increased by 25.34%,and the distribution of load rates tends to be concentrated. The average effluent concentrations of chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total nitrogen decreased by 19.81%,48.82%,34.47%,and 24.72%,respectively,and the average removal rates increased by 1.82%,1.43%,1.24%,and 9.48%,respectively.The effluent quality basically meets the requirements of"Suzhou special emission limit".Both engineering-type and management-type upgrading and reconstruction measures have achieved good results.
