Dynamic Stormwater System Upgrading and Reconstruction Plan in Urban District Renewal and Redevelopment
In recent years, there has been an increasingly urgent demand for upgrading and reconstructing low-standard stormwater systems in existing urban districts. In view of severe flooding problems and progressing local renewal in many existing urban districts, system upgrading and reconstructing had to dynamically consider transition plan and multi-phase implementation so as to maximize the project benefits in different phases.Taking alow-standard stormwater system in existing urban district in Shanghai as an example, this research evaluated current system capacity based on Info Works simulation, and proposed overall improvement plan, transition plan, and multi-phase implementation plan for system capacity improvement in alignment with local urban district renewal plan. The results indicated that the flood risk of in key plots was lower than that in street area;adding temporary outfalls was able to significantly improve system capacity during transition period;the multi-phase implementation plan was delivered based on overall improvement plan and urban district renewal plan, and project feasibility was improved through reasonable planning of multi-phase implementation. This research could provide a reference for upgrading and reconstructing stormwater systems in renewal and redevelopment of existing urban districts.
