Engineering Design Case of WWTP Underground Extension in Wuhan City
S wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)in Wuhan City with capacity of 350 000 m2/d,whose planning capacity is 600 000 m3/d,is designed to be expended on a scale of 100 000 m3/d.The effluent standard is higher than the first class A criteria specified in Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant(GB 18918-2002).Due to several sets of treatment process,several raw water intakes and discharge outlets in the WWTP,modification has been complicated.After comparison,underground structure is selected in expansion project,in order to save the existing land to the maximum extent and reserve conditions for long-term expansion.The process adopts"multi-stage pre-treatment+modified AAO+MBR+disinfection by sodium hypochlorite",and the effluent quality meets the standard steadily.S WWTP is the only WWTP with both above-ground and underground treatment structures in Wuhan City.This paper has summarized the design ideas,design parameters and design experience of the underground extension of the WWTP,to provide a reference for the modification of similar WWTPs.
