Experimental Study on Preparation of 3D Printing Tantalum Powder by Wire Electrical Explosion
Aiming at problems such as the difficulty of preparing micron spherical tantalum powder and the difficulty of con-trolling the particle size,in this paper, micro spherical tantalum powder is successfully prepared by wire electrical explosion. The voltage and current during the process of wire electrical explosion are collected by changing the initial charging voltage and the diam-eter of tantalum wire. The mechanism is analyzed and the micro tantalum powder is characterized. The results show that the electri-cal explosion process under different wire diameters has gone through five stages. The 0.4mm tantalum wire is completely vaporized during the process of electrical explosion, while 0.2mm and 0.3mm tantalum wires are not completely vaporized and are in the state of gas-liquid mixing. With the continuous increasing of the initial charging voltage, the deposition energy on the tantalum wire of a certain wire diameter increases to varying degrees, and the average particle size of the prepared micron spherical tantalum powder gradually decreases. When the initial charging voltage is 10kV,tantalum powder prepared by 0.2mm tantalum wire is concentrated in the range of 28μm~36μm,with narrow distribution range and good sphericity, which meets the requirements of micron size 3D printing metal powder.
