Research on Foundation Pit Deformation Characteristics and Cost of Different Forms of Enclosure Structures
Based on the deformation monitoring of a narrow foundation pit project for a subway transfer passage in Suzhou,a comparative analysis was conducted on the deep horizontal displacement, surface settlement, and cost per linear meter of three types of retaining structures:SMW piles, interlocking piles, and diaphragm walls.Research has shown that the maximum deep horizontal displacement and surface settlement of the enclosure structure are inversely proportional to the stiffness of the enclosure structure, and as the stiffness of the enclosure structure increases, the decreasing trend of the maximum deep horizontal displacement and surface settlement becomes slower. When the deep horizontal displacement and surface subsidence are close, compared with Φ800@600 bored piles and 600 mm thick underground continuous walls,Φ850@600 SMW piles(steel sections with one insertion and two insertions)are more economical. The deep horizontal displacement and surface settlement of Φ1000@800 interlocking pile are significantly decreased compared with Φ800@600 interlocking pile, but the cost per linear meter is slightly increased. When the requirements of the surrounding environment are strict,it can be considered to use the Φ1000@800 interlocking pile. The research results can provide important guiding significance for similar projects in the future.
