The Impact of Excavation of Foundation Pits in Thick Fill Sites on Adjacent Buildings
Considering the low strength of the fill soil, excavation of foundation pits will have an impact on adjacent buildings.Based on the finite element software Midas GTS NX,this paper simulates the impact of excavation of foundation pits in thick fill areas on support deformation and adjacent buildings.Research has found that in the excavation of foundation pits in thick fill sites, the horizontal displacement of the support structure increases with the increase of excavation depth, and the maximum horizontal displacement of the support pile often occurs in the middle of the excavation depth. The settlement of the ground around the foundation pit increases with the increase of excavation depth, and the maximum vertical settlement occurs at 1.2 times the excavation depth from the pit edge. For buildings with large raft foundations, the horizontal and vertical displacements of the corners show an increase with the depth of the excavation of the foundation pit.
