Research on Key Construction Technologies for Large Span Steel Pipe Arch Bridges in Complex Mountain Canyon
The most significant external characteristics of steel pipe arches are their light weight, high strength, large span capacity, and economical cost, which are in line with the actual needs of our country's construction. Moreover, due to their beautiful curve design posture, reasonable stress, and low maintenance and repair costs, steel pipe arches have long been highly praised by the bridge industry.Arch bridges, with their mechanical characteristics, convert the vertical load of the bridge deck into partial horizontal thrust, greatly reducing the bending moment of the main arch, while the arch ribs mainly bear pressure, fully exerting the material's compressive performance. When the line crosses deep valleys in mountainous areas, due to limitations such as the terrain of the bridge location, construction site, and transportation conditions, steel pipe arch bridges have become one of the ideal bridge beam structures in complex mountainous canyon areas due to their simple structure, convenient construction, and the ability to avoid high piers, towers, and coordination with the terrain.Arch bridges have a long history, and steel pipe arch bridges are also very competitive bridge types. However, there is not much research on the construction technology of large-span steel pipe arch bridges in mountain canyons in the industry. This article takes the development and application of construction technologies for the Dongxi River Bridge in Chongqing City as an example, and describes the relevant technological breakthroughs and successful applications of the bridge in complex geological environments.
