Research on Debris Flow Disasters and Engineering Prevention and Control Countermeasures
As a geological hazard phenomenon, debris flows occur extensively in mountainous regions globally.Currently, the mechanisms leading to debris flow disasters have become increasingly complex due to the influence of heavy rainfall and climate, making early warning and prevention efforts exceedingly challenging. This undoubtedly poses a significant impact on the safety of people's lives and property, severely constrains the construction of critical national infrastructure, and jeopardizes the long-term sustainability of society, which represents a scientific challenge that urgently needs to be addressed at this stage. Therefore, research on the prevention and control of debris flow disasters is of paramount importance. This article reviews recent developments in debris flow disasters as well as engineering prevention efforts, and discusses the key issues that future research should focus on.
