With the increasing level of urbanization in China,urban construction has entered an era of stock development.Urban renewal,as an important approach to transform the urban development model,urgently needs pathway exploration.Based on the perspective of spatial productivity and in context of China's urban renewal development history and practices,this paper discusses the pathways of urban renewal from the angle of stimulating spatial productivity and improving spatial value.It summarizes and refines four pathways:symbiosis of old and new spaces,sharing of public and private spaces,co-prosperity of positive and negative spaces,and win-win of multi-stakeholder spaces,and illustrates them with cases from multiple cities.Urban renewal needs to focus on the regeneration of spatial productivity to achieve twin goals of social and economic benefits.The pathway research provides useful references and inspirations for the planning and practices of urban renewal,and has important implications for facilitating organic urban renewal and high-quality urban development.
