Abstract
Taking construction robots as the main research object, based on the project database of the National Science Foundation(NSF)of the United States, the project database of European Union Framework Program and the database of Japan Grants-in-Aid for Competitive Scientific Research(KAKENHI),this paper examines the government funding for construction robots in the United States,Europe, and Japan from the perspectives of project quantity, undertaking institutions, funding amounts, technical direction, and project type. Results indicate that the three countries and regions exhibit different characteristics of funding for construction robot projects. The United States is highly intensive, encouraging frontier exploration, while Europe is highly invested, and highly valued application development, and Japan is long-term,and mainly focused on basic research.
