With the steady progress of the renovation of old residential areas,many of them need to replace the outdoor drainage pipes.Due to the complex and intricate underground pipelines in the old community,the building spacing is narrow and the arrangement is compact.Excavation construction will have a significant impact on the travel of people and parking of residents in the community.The expansion pipe method(static pressure broken pipe replacement pipeline construction method)can replace underground pipelines without excavation,achieving the goal of replacing new pipelines while minimizing the impact on the surrounding environment.This article combines a case study of using the expansion pipe method for pipeline renewal in an old residential area renovation project to introduce the application of expansion pipe technology in the renovation of old residential areas.At the same time,by comparing the cost of the expansion pipe method with the cost of traditional excavation methods from the sub project cost,a more suitable construction method for replacing drainage pipes in this residential area is selected.
