Study on Impacts of Green and Low Carbon Actions on Profitability of Construction Enterprises
Construction industry is one of the pillar industries in China with intensive energy-consuming and high carbon emissions. The green and low-carbon transformation of construction industry a fatal step towards Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality in China. However, the green and low-carbon transformation is an uncertain process that combines both opportunities and challenges, requiring multiple forces such as top-level coordinated design, enterprise resource allocation restructuring, and extensive public participation. The absence of any link may have a significant impact on the profitability of the enterprise itself, thereby hindering the achievement of the"Dual Carbon"goal in the construction industry. This paper uses panel regression to evaluate the impacts of green and low-carbon actions on listed companies in the Chinese construction industry, and attempts to clarify its mechanism of action. The research results indicate that Chinese construction enterprises have been significantly impacted by green and low-carbon actions, and after robustness testing, this result still holds true, which can provide reference basis for government decision-making departments and energy conservation regulatory agencies to formulate green and low-carbon related policies.
