Analysis on Suitability of Photovoltaic Modules of Different Materials and Types in New Buildings——Taking a new public building in Shanghai as example
By conducting research on photovoltaic(PV)modules of different materials and types, the study investigates the application of these modules in new building projects and ultimately determines their suitability for use in new buildings. The research findings indicate that different building parts require different types of PV modules, each with distinct capabilities.Cadmium telluride(CdTe)PV modules show good suitability in new construction projects and can replace existing building components.Crystalline silicon(c-Si)PV modules need to be considered for their specific application scenarios in both new and existing buildings. While flexible PV modules,on the other hand, have limited practical application scenarios in buildings.Additionally, designing and reserving conditions for PV construction in new buildings can save more costs compared to retrofitting PV in existing buildings. However, there is still a need to strengthen relevant policies and guidance to promote the implementation of building-integrated photovoltaics(BIPV).
