Research on Cultural Value Evaluation and Internal Elements in Urban Regeneration
As China transition from rapid urban redevelopment to a more refined and sophisticated development, urban regeneration has emerged as a main task in contemporary urban development.Beyond the continuous enhancement of physical infrastructure, there is increasing emphasis on the preservation of historical continuity, the protection and adaptive reuse of built heritage, and the strengthening of cultural soft power within urban context. This article employs literature review and case analysis to elaborate on the essence of urban culture, highlighting cultural phenomena in exemplary cases of urban regeneration. It proposes an evaluative framework for cultural values in urban regeneration, encompassing critical elements including preservation of historical continuity, safeguarding and enhancing spaces that foster collective memory, sustaining traditional urban lifestyles and practices, promoting regional customs and local identity, and addressing the nuanced elements associated with various urban activities. The paper also highlights the complex interactions among these elements and their role in driving urban cultural development and shaping regional distinctiveness. This proposed framework lays a theoretical foundation for the future development of systematic methodologies for cultural value assessment and the establishment of culture-led urban regeneration models.
