This study adopts the panel data of 287 cities from 2011 to 2021,measures the development level of digital economy using entropy weight method,and applies the panel fixed effect model to comprehensively explore the impact of digital economy development on employment scale,employment quality and employment structure.The results of the study show that the development of digital economy can significantly expand the scale of employment,enhance the quality of employment and improve the employment structure.The impact of digital economy development on employment in the three regions of East,Central and West has obvious differences,while the digital economy can significantly expand the employment scale and improve the employment structure in the pilot cities of the"Broadband China"policy.The research suggests that the state should pay attention to the imbalance in the development of the digital economy among regions,and promote the synergistic development of the region,so as to enhance the employment effect.
