Research Progress on Desulfurization of High-Sulfur Bauxite and Comprehensive Utilization of Associated Cobalt Resources in China
Bauxite is a strategic scarce mineral resource with a high proportion of high sulfur bauxite in China.Its effi-cient development and utilization are beneficial for reducing the supply pressure of raw materials in China's aluminum indus-try.This article summarizes the current research status of desulfurization of high sulfur bauxite based on its resource character-istics,and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of pre-desulfurization and desulfurization in alumina production processes;And based on the flotation desulfurization method,the comprehensive utilization ideas of associated cobalt resources in bauxite were explored.The goal of desulfurization of high sulfur bauxite is to reduce the sulfur content to meet the require-ments of alumina production or other industrial applications.Calcination desulfurization,flotation desulfurization,precipitation desulfurization,etc.are the main methods for desulfurization of high sulfur bauxite.Among them,flotation desulfurization is a relatively mature process among desulfurization methods with the advantages of high efficiency and low cost.At the same time,flotation desulfurization is also a key step in the comprehensive utilization of accompanying cobalt resources,and the industrial promotion prospects are promising.The comprehensive recovery of cobalt resources associated with high sulfur bauxite can im-prove the comprehensive utilization rate of resources,increase the self-sufficiency rate of domestic cobalt resources,and reduce dependence on foreign resources.For the recovery and utilization of sulfur cobalt resources associated with high sulfur bauxite,the combination of selection and smelting is a key research direction for comprehensive recovery of sulfur and cobalt.
