Effect of Grinding Aid on Properties of Steel-slag-based Cementitious Materials
In order to improve the cementitious reactivity and the addition of steel slag in cementitious materials, the effects of different single and composite grinding aids on surface area, sieve residue, size distribution of grinding products, the flexural strength and the compressive strength of steel-slag-based cementitious materials were studied. The hydration mechanism of steel-slag-based cementitious materials was analyzed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimet-ric analysis. The results showed that the grinding effect of single grinding aid on steel slag and the increase of flexural strength and compressive strength of steel slag-based cementitious material specimens from strong to weak are as follows:triethano-lamine,1,2-propylene glycol, ethylene glycol, glycerol and sodium sulfate. The surface area of grinding products which grinding for 60 minutes and adding S2(the mass ratio of triethanolamine, ethylene glycol and 1,2-propanediol is 5∶7∶7)is 495 m2/kg.The fraction yield of+45 μm and+80 μm is 8.7%and 0.8%,respectively.Compared to the cementitious materials without adding grinding aids, the compressive strength of cementitious materials which curing 3 days and 28 days were in-creased by 53.10%and 36.70%,respectively.The hydration products and the hydration degree of steel-slag-based cementi-tious materials were raised by the addition of grinding aids. The hydration product Ca(OH)2 were raised by the addition of S2,the microscopic structure were more compacted, the surface pores were reduced, the structural voids were decreased, the strength of steel-slag-based cementitious materials were increased.
