Selected Works of Excellent Creations in the First Decade of the People's Republic of China and the Production Mechanism of Canonization of New Chinese Literature
In 1959,to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the People's Republic of China,the People's Literature Publishing House published the Selected Works of Excellent Creations in the First Decade of the People's Republic of China series,which played an important role in the canonization of Chinese new literature.The series'emphasis on revolutionary historical themes,the addition and deletion of selectives items,the modification of content,and the strengthening of political identity through personal narration in the paratext demonstrate the important production mechanisms for literary canonization during the"Seventeen Years"before the Cultural Revolution.It can be said that the publication of the series laid the foundation for the basic pattern of literature during the"Seventeen Years"and became the source of discourse for the later"Red Canon".
