Experimental study on the treatment of Pearl River Western Navigation channel raw water by ultrafiltration-nanofiltration dual membrane process
In response to the issue of high operational costs associated with long-distance water diversion in Guangzhou,an experimental study was conducted on the local water source from the Pearl River's western navigation channel, utilizing a pre-treatment+conventional process+ul-trafiltration-nanofiltration dual membrane process. The study aimed to investigate the treatment efficiency of the experimental process on raw water, providing process, technical, and parameter support for Guangzhou to initiate the use of local water sources. The experimental results indicate that the pre-treatment+conventional process effectively removes conventional pollutants from the water, with the output water generally meeting the Sanitary Standards for Drinking Water(GB 5749-2022).After further treatment with the dual membrane process, the concentration of con-ventional pollutants can be further reduced, with the nanofiltration output water showing color,CODMn,and ammonia nitrogen concentrations as low as 0.99 degrees,0.84 mg/L,and 0.02 mg/L,respectively.Three-dimensional fluorescence and analysis of the relative molecular mass of organic substances reveal that the pre-treatment+conventional process can remove nearly 40%of fluorescent substances and small molecular organic matter. After the dual membrane process treat-ment,more than 80%of fluorescent substances and over 60%of small molecular organic matter are removed.Emergency pollution tests show that the pre-treatment+conventional process has limited effects on the removal of new pollutants, with a removal rate of about 20%to 40%.In con-trast,the dual membrane process is highly efficient in dealing with both conventional and new pol-lutants,with the removal rates for two types of conventional pollutants and five types of new pollu-tants all exceeding 90%after incorporating the dual membrane process.Membrane fouling analysis found that the main fluorescent substances causing ultrafiltration membrane fouling are tryptophan-like proteins,fulvic-like substances, and humic-like substances, while for the nanofiltration mem-brane,it is mainly tryptophan-like proteins. The inorganic elements causing fouling in both mem-branes are primarily Ca,Si,Na,K,and other elements.
