Effect of cold rolling deformation amount of final pass on texture and mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy
Effect of cold rolling deformation amount of final pass on texture, grain morphology and mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy sheets for automotive body panels was studied by means of X-ray diffraction, electron backscatter diffraction technique and tensile testing. The results show that the texture is the main factor determining the mechanical properties of the Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy sheets under the same composition and solution treatment process after cold rolling. The 33%sample with the largest grain size actually achieved the highest tensile strength and lower yield strength ratio. This is because reducing the cold rolling deformation amount of final pass can reduce the content of Cube and Cube+ND20 textures in the sheet under solution and pre aging treatment, thereby reducing the harm of cubic texture to the strength of the sheets. The final pass high deformation cold rolling will promote the transformation of Copper,S and Brass textures to Cube and Cube+ND20 textures during recrystallization, and inhibit the transformation of S texture into R texture, which should be avoided in practical production.
