Effect of pulsed magnetic field on solidification microstructure and properties of Zn-3Cu alloy
Effect of pulsed magnetic field treatment process parameters(pulse voltage and pulse frequency)on solidification structure and properties of as-cast Zn-3Cu alloy was studied.The results show that the pulsed magnetic field can effectively refine the solidification structure of the Zn-3Cu alloy.As the pulse voltage increases in the range of 0-300 V,the grain size of the Zn-3Cu alloy gradually decreases.As the pulse frequency increases in the range of 0-10 Hz,the grain size of the alloy first increases,then decreases and then increases,the size of the second phase(CuZn5)first decreases and then increases.When the pulse frequency is 5 Hz,the refinement effect of solidification structure of the alloy is the best.Pulsed magnetic field can improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the alloy.When the pulse voltage is 300 V and the pulse frequency is 5 Hz,the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the alloy are the best,with the tensile strength of 106.05 MPa and the elongation of 7.14%,which are 37.9%and 32.7%higher than those of the alloy without magnetic field treatment,respectively.
