Research status and prospects of Ce microalloying in magnesium alloys
Ce microalloying is an effective way to develop low-cost and high-performance magnesium alloys, which is of great significance for the recycling and sustainable development of magnesium resources in China. This article reviews the research progress of Ce microalloying in magnesium alloys in the past five years, and discusses the effects of Ce microalloying on the microstructure, aging precipitation behavior, texture evolution, and mechanical properties of Mg-Al,Mg-Zn,Mg-Gd,and Mg-Y series alloys. This provides data support for establishing the relationship between composition and mechanical properties in Ce containing magnesium alloys. In addition, the strengthening mechanism of Ce addition on improving the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys is also elaborated in detail. Finally, some problems and considerations faced by Ce microalloying in the application of magnesium alloys are pointed out,and several aspects for further in-depth research are proposed,in order to broaden the application range of lightweight rare-earth magnesium alloys.
