Effect of solution treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of 6061 Al alloy
Effect of solution treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of compressed 6061 aluminum alloy was studied using optical microscope(OM),electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)technique and Vickers microhardness tester. The results show that after solution treatment, the fine equiaxed recrystallized grains are formed in the compressed 6061 aluminum alloy, which weakens its texture strength. As the solution treatment time increases, the number of recrystallized grains in the alloy increases and the texture strength decreases. After solution treatment, the hardness of the 6061 aluminum alloy significantly increases due to the effect of solid solution strengthening. However, with the increase of solution treatment time, the grain size of the alloy increases, and the fine grain strengthening effect decreases, resulting in a decrease in the hardness value of the alloy.
