Effect of solution treatment on microstructure and properties of Mg-1.5Er-1.0Zn-0.3Zr alloy
Effect of solution treatment on microstructure, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of Mg-1.5Er-1.0Zn-0.3Zr alloy was investigated by means of optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),electrochemical experiments and tensile experiments. The results show that the microstructure of the as-cast alloy is mainly composed of α-Mg matrix,Mg3Er2Zn3,Mg24Er5 and MgErZn2 phases. After solution treatment, the second phases gradually dissolve in the magnesium matrix, and the average grain size of the alloy increases to varying degrees. The comprehensive performance of the alloy after solution treatment at 460 ℃ for 8 h is good, with a corrosion rate of(0.44±0.051)mm/y,the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation are(227.97±4.84)MPa,(137.96±5.03)MPa and(14.42±1.06)%,respectively.
