Effect of La addition on microstructure and properties of Ti-6Al-4V-1.5Mn alloy
Ti-6Al-4V-1.5Mn-xLa(x=1,1.5,2 and 2.5,mass%)alloys were prepared by powder metallurgy method,and microstructure and properties of the alloys after solution and aging treatment were studied using optical microscope(OM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and electronic universal testing machine.The results show that after adding rare earth element La,the microstructure of the Ti-6Al-4V-1.5Mn alloy shows significant refinement,and there are dispersed rare earth oxide La2O3 in the microstructure,which play a dispersed strengthening role in the matrix.As the content of rare earth element La increases,the tensile strength and elongation of the alloys first increase and then decrease.When the content of La element is 2%,the tensile strength and elongation of the alloy are optimal,and the tensile fracture surface is quasi cleavage fracture.
