Effect of Ca element content on microstructure and properties of Zn-1.5Cu-1.2Mg zinc alloy
Zn-1.5Cu-1.2Mg-xCa(x=0,0.1,0.25 and 0.5,mass%)zinc alloys were prepared by metal mold casting method, and the effect of Ca element addition on its microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance was studied. The results show that when Ca is not added, the primary phase of the alloy is η-Zn,and the strengthening phase is Mg2Zn11.With the increase of Ca addition, the number of Mg2Zn11 phase and Ca compound in the microstructure of the alloys increases, the coarse dendrites are refined, and new phases appear. With the increase of Ca addition, the microhardness of the alloys increases, while the tensile strength shows a trend of first decreasing and then increasing. When 0.5 mass%Ca is added, the hardness of the alloy reaches its maximum value of 203 HV.Without Ca added, the tensile strength of the alloy reaches its maximum value of 199 MPa.When the Ca addition amount reaches 0.1 mass%,the corrosion resistance of the alloy is the best, with a corrosion rate of 92.1 μm/y.
