Analysis on the Allocation Efficiency and Investment Redundancy of Infection and Control Resources of Secondary and Tertiary Hospitals in Suzhou
Objective:To compare and analyze the allocation efficiency and investment redundancy of infection prevention and con-trol resources in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Suzhou,so as to provide reference for rational allocation of infection prevention and control resources and improve the efficiency of infection prevention and control management. Methods:The number of beds, infection management personnel and infection-related equipment in medical institutions were selected as input indicators, the number of hospi-tal infections, hospitalizations, and dissertations and projects were taken as output indicators. The DEA model and Malmquist index model were employed to compare and analyze the allocation efficiency and input redundancy of infection prevention and control re-sources in healthcare institutions in Suzhou from 2020 to 2022.Results:In the period of 2020 to 2022,there was an increase in the in-vestment of infection prevention and control resources in Suzhou, and the average overall allocation efficiency in 2022 was 0.84,and on-ly 3 districts and counties were DEA effective. In addition, the average TFP of infection prevention and control resources was 0.996 with a decrease of 4.61% as well as a decline rate of 6.50% in technological progress. From the perspective of investment redundancy, only 3 districts and counties belonged to zero redundancy areas and 2 districts and counties belonged to low redundancy areas.Conclu-sion:In Suzhou, the allocation efficiency of infection prevention and control resources was relatively low with an overall downward trend and was mainly constrained by technological development.Besides, most of the districts and counties suffered from redundant in-vestment resources and insufficient outputs. The quality of infection prevention and control resources inputs should be improved, and the structure of resource allocation should be optimized in order to improve the efficiency of resource allocation.
