Current status of psychological distress and its influencing factors among 195 middle-aged and young HIV/AIDS patients
Objective To investigate the current status and influencing factors of psychological distress among middle-aged and young HIV/AIDS patients,so as to formulation of clinical interventions.Methods A total of 195 HIV/AIDS patients at ages of 18 to 59 years that were definitively diagnosed and followed up in a tertiary hospital in Nanyang City from 2019 to 2022 were enrolled.The psychological distress was evaluated with the Psychological Distress Scale for HIV-Infected Adolescents(PD-HIA),and factors affecting the status of psychological distress were identified using multiple linear regression analysis.Results The study subjects had a mean age of(35.72±7.54)years,and the mean score of psychological distress was(75.39±14.24)points.The three dimensions of psychological distress items with the highest mean score included loneliness perception(3.36±1.01)points,suicidal ideation(3.27±0.98)points and anxiety and depression(3.24±0.97)points.Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that gender,marital status,working status,duration of confirmed HIV diagnosis,level of social support and being discriminated were factors affecting psychological distress among middle-aged and young HIV/AIDS patients(all P values<0.05).Conclusions There is severe psychological distress among middle-aged and young HIV/AIDS patients.Dynamic psychological assessment and implementation of timely targeted interven-tions are recommended among middle-aged and young HIV/AIDS patients.
