Quality of viral hepatitis C case reports in medical institutions in Jiangsu Province from 2019 to 2022
Objective To investigate the quality of viral hepatitis C case reports and the problems in medical institutions in Jiang-su Province from 2019 to 2022,so as to provide the evidence for improving the monitoring quality. Methods Medical institutions that reported a large number of hepatitis C patients during the period from July 1,2019 to June 30,2022 were checked in 13 cities of Jiangsu Province. The correct rates of acute cases, confirmed cases and children cases reports, the proportion and correct rate of hepatitis C virus(HCV)RNA-positive case reports, and the percentage of nucleic acid tests among newly reported cases were evaluated based on the Diagnosis for Hepatitis C(WS 213-2018).Results A total of 121 hospitals were checked.Of the 392 acute hepatitis C cases checked, the correct rate of case reports was 58.4%,and among the 21 children hepatitis C cases checked, the correct rate of case re-ports was 71.4%,while the correct rate of case reports was 88.2%among the 4 507 confirmed hepatitis C cases. There were 5 740 cases positive for HCV RNA,and the rate and correct rate of case reports were 82.5%and 97.3%.In addition, the correct rate of acute hepati-tis C cases and confirmed cases reports and percentage of nucleic acid tests among newly reported hepatitis C cases were all higher in tertiary hospitals than in secondary hospitals(all P values<0.05),and the percentage and correct rate of HCV RNA-positive case re-ports were both lower in tertiary hospitals than in secondary hospitals(both P values<0.05).Conclusions There is a high quality of hepatitis C cases reports in Jiangsu Province, and the quality of case reports vary in different regions and levels of hospitals.Standard-ized training and examination of hepatitis C case reports are required to be improved and the criteria of diagnosis and case reports are needed to be defined to improve the quality of case reports and reduce misreports and underreports.
