Epidemiological characteristics and trends in incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in Huai'an City from 2011 to 2020
Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and trends in incidence of AIDS in Huai'an City,so as to provide insights into the formulation of the AIDS control strategy.Methods The epidemiological data of newly reported HIV/AIDS pa-tients in Huai'an City from 2011 to 2020 were downloaded from the National AIDS Prevention and Control Information System of China,and the trends in incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS were analyzed using a Joinpoint regression model.Results A total of 1 202 newly reported HIV/AIDS cases were identified in Huai'an City from 2011 to 2020,and 87.19%were male.There were significant differences between male and female newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in terms of age,marital status,ethnicity,educational level,popu-lation classification,route of infection and source of samples(all P values<0.05).The annual mean rise of the incidence of annual re-ported HIV/AIDS cases was 11.13%among all subjects from 2011 to 2020(Z=2.89,P<0.05),and the incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases increased from 1.15/105 in 2011 to 2.81/105 in 2020.The change point of the incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS was found in 2015,with an annual mean rise of 23.86%from 2011 to 2015(Z=3.12,P<0.05);however,there was no significant difference in the trends in the incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS(Z=0.52,P=0.63).The change point of the incidence of male newly reported HIV/AIDS was found in 2015,with an annual mean rise of 25.46%from 2011 to 2015(Z=3.05,P<0.05),and the annual mean rise in the incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS was 1.53%from 2015 to 2020,with no significant difference in the trends in the incidence(Z=0.39,P=0.71).In addition,there was no significant difference in the trends in the incidence of female newly reported HIV/AIDS(Z=0.96,P=0.34).Conclusions The incidence of newly reported HIV/AIDS appeared a tendency to-wards a rise in Huai'an City.Much attention requires to be paid to AIDS control among men,notably men who have sex with men,and targeted AIDS health education and behavioral interventions are recommended.
