Epidemiological characteristics of influenza outbreaks and associated influencing factors in Lianyungang City from 2018 to 2022
Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of influenza outbreaks in Lianyungang City,so as to pro-vide insights into management of influenza.Methods All data pertaining to influenza outbreaks in Lianyungang City from 2018 to 2022 were collected.The epidemiological characteristics of influenza outbreaks were analyzed using a descriptive epidemiological meth-od,and factors affecting the epidemic intensity and duration of influenza outbreaks were identified.Results A total of 160 influenza outbreaks were reported in Lianyungang City from 2018 to 2022,with 4 701 influenza cases reported.Influenza outbreaks predominantly occurred in primary schools(114 outbreaks,71.25%)and in Haizhou District(112 outbreaks,70.00%),and peaked in March(54.38%)and December(22.50%)each year.Influenza A was the dominant type;however,the dominant type of influenza alternated each year.The largest proportion of influenza outbreaks with an attack rate of>3%in all outbreaks was seen in kindergarten(75.00%,9/12),and the proportion of influenza outbreaks with an attack rate of>3%in all outbreaks increased with a reduced school size.In ad-dition,the proportion of influenza outbreaks with epidemic duration of 7 days and less in all outbreaks was observed in schools with 1000 and less students(79.41%,27/34).Conclusions Influenza outbreaks predominantly occurred in winter and spring and primary schools in Lianyungang City during the period from 2018 to 2022,and the attack rate of influenza was relatively high in kindergartens and small schools,which should paid much attention to.
