Epidemiological characteristics of the first human infection with avian influenza H9N2 virus in Jiangsu Province
Objective To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and clinical manifestations of the first human case with avian influenza H9N2 virus infection in Jiangsu Province,so as to provide insights into the management of avian influenza.Methods The case and close contacts were investigated and analyzed using a descriptive epidemiological method,and case,close con-tacts and environmental samples were collected for laboratory tests.Results The case was definitively diagnosed with human avian in-fluenza H9N2 virus infection,and all close contacts were tested negative for H9N2 virus.The case had a history of exposure to live poul-try markets,and multiple environmental samples from live poultry markets were tested positive for H9N2 virus.Conclusions This case is the first human case with avian influenza H9N2 virus infection in Jiangsu Province,which may be caused by exposure to live poultry markets.
