Mediating effect of level of care on willingness to use smart eldercare products among the elderly
Objective To investigate the mediating effect of children's care levels on the willingness to use smart eldercare prod-uct among the elderly. Methods A total of 418 elderly residents at ages of 60 years and older were recruited in Nanjing City for ques-tionnaire surveys, and the theoretical model for the willingness to use smart eldercare products was created using unified theory of ac-ceptance and use of technology(UTAUT)among the elderly.Level of care was included in the model as a moderator, and the estab-lished structural equation model was subjected to confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis and multi-group moderation effect analysis with the software Amos 24.0.The associations of independent variables performance expectations, effort expectations, social impact and perceived risk with the dependent variable willingness to use smart eldercare products were examined to investigate the mediating effect of children's levels of daily care on perceived pathway. Results If the theoretical hypothesis was established, performance expectations(C.R.=4.261,P<0.001),effort expectations(C.R.=2.051,P=0.040)and social impact(C.R.=2.934,P=0.003)posed a posi-tive impact on the willingness to use smart eldercare products among the elderly, and perceived risk posed a negative effect(C.R.=-2.649,P=0.008).In addition, level of care had a mediating role in the interaction between perceived risk and willingness to use smart eldercare products(C.R.=2.597).Conclusions Performance expectations have the largest effect on the willingness to use smart eldercare products among the elderly, and perceived risk shows a less inhibitory effect on the willingness to use smart eldercare products among the elderly with high-level care than those with low-level care.
