Objective To examine thecurrent status of life styles and its associations with diabetes risk scores among individuals at a high risk of diabetes in Nanjing City. Methods Adults at ages of 40 to 69 years in communities of Nanjing City were recruited.Participants'diabetes risk scores, life styles(smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, physical activity)and family history of diabetes were collected, and the height, body weight, waist circumstance and blood pressure were measured. The characteristics of individuals at a high risk of diabetes(risk score of 25 points and higher)were analyzed, and the current status of life styles was described. The correlation between life styles and diabetes risk scores was examined using linear regression analysis. Results A total of 4 132 subjects at a high risk of diabetes were enrolled, including 1 059 current smokers(25.63%)and 1 057 alcohol consumers(25.58%),with total exercise time of 420(180,1 050)min per week and total sitting time of 183(122,305)min per week.More than 50%of the participants ate fresh vegetables and fruits each day,and the proportions of daily intake of high-fiber foods,meats,high-fat foods, sugary drinks and milk and its products were 17.11%,49.20%,1.43%,1.82%and 37.75%among participants, respectively.Multiple linear regression analy-sis showed that low-frequency healthy diet and current smoking increased diabetes risk scores, and long exercise duration and low alco-hol consumption reduced diabetes risk scores(both P values<0.05).Conclusions Different life styles may affect diabetes risk scores.Targeted health education is required to reduce the risk of diabetes.
