Prevalence characteristics of syphilis in Yizheng City from 2010 to 2023
Objective To investigate the characteristics of syphilis prevalence in Yizheng City,so as to provide insights into syph-ilis control.Methods Data pertaining to reported syphilis cases in Yizheng City from 2010 to 2023 were collected,and the concentra-tion patterns of syphilis incidence were analyzed using concentration ratio and circular distribution methods.Results A total of3 012 incident syphilis cases were reported in Yizheng City from 2010 to 2023,with annual incidence of 37.97/105.The ratio of male to fe-male cases was 1.05∶1,and the latent syphilis was the predominant typeof syphilis(1 836 cases,60.96%).The incidence of early syphilis and latent syphilis appeared minor seasonal distribution characteristics in Yizheng City during the 14-year study period.The peak period of early syphilis was from February 23 to October 12,with a peak on June 19,and the peak period of early syphilis was from March 4 to December 1,with a peak on July 18.The onset of early syphilis was concentrated among men at ages of 50 years and older,with annual incidence of 21.56/105,and was concentrated among women at ages of 15 to 49 years,with annual incidence of 22.39/105,appearing an overall tendency towards a decline(AAPC=-14.6%,P<0.05).The onset of latent syphilis was concentrated among both men and women at ages of 50 years and older,with annual incidence of 48.25/105 and32.25/105,respectively,appearing an over-all tendency towards a rise(AAPC=20.4%and 16.1%,bothPvalues<0.05).Farmer(48.41%)and housework and unemployment(19.99%)were predominant occupations,and the cases were concentrated in Zhenzhou Township(32.20%).Conclusions The in-cidence of early syphilis appeared a tendency towards a decline and the incidence of latent syphilis appeared a tendency towards a rise in Yizheng City from 2010 to 2023.Expanded detection and improved knowledge of sexually-transmitted diseases are required for multi-dimensional syphilis control.
