Study on thermal calculation of vertical snake finned tube heat exchangers
The performance calculation of a vertical serpentine finned tube heat exchanger is mainly carried out using software. However, due to manufacturing reasons and software limitations during actual design and manufacturing, the actual pipe layout is not consistent with that of the thermal calculation software. The actual number of pipes arranged is twice the number of pipes ar-ranged by the software, which will greatly affect the fluid flow rate inside the pipe and, thus, affect the heat transfer coefficient in-side the pipe.In order to evaluate the influence of the heat transfer coefficient inside the pipe on the total heat transfer coeffi-cient,an equivalent study of thermal calculation was conducted for the inconsistency in pipe layout. The results indicate that when the heat transfer coefficient outside the tube is much smaller than the heat transfer coefficient inside the tube, the influence of the heat transfer coefficient inside the tube on the total heat transfer coefficient is relatively small, and the software calculation results can be directly used for the structural design of the heat exchanger.Sharing this example can provide suggestions or guidance for similar engineering projects in the future.
