Experimental and numerical study on pressure drop characteristics of a flow-restricting orifice
This article studies the application of the PY41 plunger-type orifice plate in non-nuclear grade PORV discharge pipe-lines.The hydraulic performance of the PY41 orifice plate is numerically simulated under cold conditions, and cold and hot tests are conducted.Under cold conditions, the numerical simulation data and test data match each other, indicating that the k-epsilon RNG turbulence model and Zwart-Gerber-Belamri cavitation model can accurately predict the cold performance of the plunger-type orifice plate. The hot test shows a corresponding relationship between the pressure drop performance parameters of the PY41 plunger-type orifice plate under cold and hot conditions. When its performance parameters meet the cold design requirements, they will also meet the hot design requirements.
